Our company has been part of the Tata Steel Europe Group since the takeover of the Corus Group in 2007.
Founded in India in 1907, Tata Steel is among the top ten steel producers in the world with an annual crude steel capacity of over 28 million tonnes (MTPA). Today, it is one of the world's most geographically diversified producers of steel, with production operations in 26 countries and business activities in over 50 countries.
Since 2004, the company has expanded internationally by acquiring Asian steel producers NatSteel and Millennium Steel (Tata Steel Thailand) and Corus (Tata Steel Europe Limited), the second largest producer of steel in Europe.
The Tata Steel Group, which saw turnover of $22.8 billion in the 2010 financial year, has over 80,000 employees on five continents.
Tata Steel is part of the Tata Group, the largest industrial conglomerate in India. Tata and Tata Steel both have a long history of charitable giving and social responsibility, with Tata committing roughly 4% of the Company's after-tax profit to social responsibility initiatives.
